Spoiler-free segment of my "I just saw Serenity at last" post:
1. Whedon's ability to create a seamless concise opening exposition for those who have no clue what Firefly is all about, and keep his established Firefly fans entertained and thrilled, and further the story, all in the same ten minutes of film, is killer.
2. If the television series was paced at, say, a seven, this is paced at a ten--and it still doesn't lose one degree of smartness. That's amazing. It's like Whedon puts his hands on your shoulders, stares into your eyes, and says, "Ready? Okay: Strap in and keep up."
3. It's simply one of the best science fiction films I've seen. Which also means it's one of the best films I've seen.
Okay, here comes my chockfulla SPOILERS discussion about a major plot point.
