I just saw something about a local event thingy that will provide some free medical services for those who are unemployed. At the end it states, "You must provide proof of unemployment."

...

"Yeah, here's a photo of me sittin' on the couch playing Nintendo yesterday afternoon. See the timestamp? Two p.m."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. No, seriously, what exactly constitutes proof of employment to them? Hilarious.

I'm guessing they want to see a copy of a form you fill out to get unemployment from the guvviment or something. But what if you didn't bother? (And that doesn't make for FUNNY. :D )

Oops, my bad. I really didn't know there was such a form. I should, considering I'm currently a NEET but I don't think my government does such things for the unemployed.

When I was laid off, the companies (yes, plural, sigh) gave me as part of the paperwork package for severance a letter that said I was laid off because of comapny restructuring, and not fired for individual incompetence. Now, what keeps me from using those letters years later, I've no idea, but I supposed if it's recent enough, they'll take something like that.

An unemployment check stub would do it, too (assuming the person has filed for unemployment).

At some point when we happen to be in the same room, remind me to pull you into a corner and regale you with the "documentation" that I've seen in this job. The photocopied purchase order with a line where the photocopier caught the shadow of the off-kilter, cut from someone else's letterhead, logo is a particular favorite.

And the one where they doctored the top of the letter, but didn't change the pre-printed address at the bottom of the letterhead.

There are actual criminals, who put a little effort into their doings. They're fun to catch. Then there are the dumbasses. They are even more fun. 8->

On the one hand, heh. On the other, I suspect they mean proof that you've sought unemployment benefits and/or proof that you're actively looking for work. We sign those forms for people pretty frequently at the library.

Totally. The funny must be upheld. =) And I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't a mouthbreather civil servant somewhere demanding those photos.

There was an article in the paper recently (from AP wire) about a salon that was providing free Botox to the unemployed, since older unemployed workers are finding it even harder to get a job. You had to bring your pink slip or unemployment check, I think. The whole article made me o.O

Lmao. That sounds a bit dodgy. Perhaps the Government has a new scheme of doing away with the unemployed to save money. Medical services? 0_o

Lol, how ridiculous! I like your plan. I would have gone the screen shot of my bank balance, personally! You're unemployed, hey? Sorry to hear it! I just moved back to my home city from doing my masters, and can't get interviews for anything but retail. FOUR degrees later. Seriously, wtf.

Can it seriously be a spoiler for anyone who already gives enough of a crap to be in HP fandom on LJ? It's like, it might have spoiled my mom, maybe... if she hadn't already heard me babbling about the whole story for years.

Oh, but it's a funny spoiler icon among those who already know it, which is why it's particularly funny!
