Secondary to some very pretty artwork by [livejournal.com profile] rexluscus, I watched the anime of Pet Shop of Horrors--homg, I can see why this thing is a slashgirl's dream. There's only one OTP, one guy's bishounen-pretty and wily while the other's buff and suspicious, and while they're not actually doing it they're about one come-hither look away. And from what the anime demonstrates, the fanfiction must tend to follow the same structure as the episodes, so, you know what yer getting.

I liked it so much I watched it again the very next day. Who wants to point me to the good fanfiction?

Warning - fangirling ahead!

To join the chorus: if you even somewhat enjoyed the anime, you HAVE to read the manga. Like whoa. I thought the anime was okay but the manga is just....stupid awesome by comparison. As you might expect, the characters are SO much deeper and more three-dimensional, and there are lashings of the not-quite-but-almost slash you mentioned. If you want it quickly and don't mind not paying for stuff, you can download it here (http://www.mangatraders.com/files/manga/pet_shop_of_horrors).

*goes to check out the recs*

I didn't like the OVA when I saw it first, since it's nothing compared to the manga, but nowadays I've learned to like it. I just really don't like the mermaid or the bunny story... they could have had so much better stuff in it instead. :/

I concur! 'Dessert' and 'Doom' (or hell, any of a bunch of others, but 'Dessert' for the yaoi fangirls) would have been so much better. >_>

Which one is Doom? I can't remember most of the names. ^_^'

I have no objection to catching up on the manga this way! I think of it much like checking out library books: for a quick read, you can do it this way, but neither digital files nor library books are good for rereading and cherishing if one really wants to keep something on hand. If one likes it well enough one will buy it. ^_^ Thank you SO much for the site recommendation!

No problem. :) To answer the other question you sort-of asked, I've spent a long time looking and I honestly don't think there's much in the way of 'good' fanfiction (although it depends on how high your standards are). There's a lot of stuff which is readable, but nothing I'd want to read more than once or rec to friends.

...so obviously, you should read the manga and then write some, thus solving this grievous problem. *runs away*

I've lived through this kind of solution, hee!

(and I love your icon; it's hilarious because it's TRUE!)
