Some, not unexpectedly, have negative reactions to the sleek'n'shiny new MacBook Air's lack of an optical drive (that's a CD/DVD drive to most of us). Okay, I won't try to convert you, but I'll take what Steve Jobs had to say about it and go into further, personal depth.

Jan. 15th, 2008 08:41 pmAm watching Steve Jobs's keynote address from Macworld 2008 (linked from apple.com, which I understand is breaking the internetz with the volume of people rushing to see it), and it's a Mac fan's wet dream. The thinnest laptop in the world fits in a manila envelope. Eeeeee. I wouldn't trade my gorgeous MacBook Pro with its 4 GB of RAM for that little thing, no I wouldn't--but, damn, it would be a fabulous accessory computer. I would get it just so that I could pull it out of my purse and show it off.
