I found myself unexpectedly in front of the Apple Store on Michigan Avenue today. Flowers, balloons, cards, candles, apples (each with a single bite taken out of it, of course), post-it notes all over the front window, and a lot of sad people gathering in front. It was as solemn as any church.

I was thinking about going down to the Apple store here today to see if anything was going on. I ran out of time today, but maybe I'll do it tomorrow.

Yeah, I was just out walking--I didn't even remember where the Apple Store was on Michigan Avenue but then I saw that big ol' logo and stopped dead in my tracks, realizing what that crowd was.

I just posted on FB about going to meet my hubby at a similar place, with not as many remembrances, but just moving as your scene. It has been hitting me in stages.

I was glad to be there. I keep seeing how much tv news is focused on his death and thinking, "It's not just me; I'm glad of that." Just keeps rolling over me in waves.

I was so sad to be the only one taking flower/apple to my Apple store here, but now, at least, there was something.

Glad to see New York had such a beautiful memorial.

That's a BEAUTIFUL icon. And that's wonderful you did that. *hugs*

(That's Chicago, actually--easy mistake! I wonder what the scene is at the NY store.)

Thanks. I made it that night on my wee Mac book while I was still processing it.

My little memorial made the local news, and looked so lonely when they showed it.

Heh. That's what I get for posting before coffee, I missed the Michigan Ave part. Faceplant. Even better that the former home town stepped up. Another reason to love Chicago.

I'm gonna cry, I just know it.

Didn't realize you were in Chicago too! And I haven't gone to Michigan Ave yet, wonder how long they'll keep the memorial up. I honestly couldn't believe it when I heard--I knew he'd left, but I thought perhaps he had more time. :\

I've been doing the touristy thing around Chicago this weekend. I love this town--but only when it's warm! :D

I really had no idea how long he had left--I kept saying, "The media's been burying him for a damn decade."

So many remembrances--people saying, "I remember my first computer..." and such.

I was over at Stanford w/my son yesterday and I couldn't resist driving down Steve's street. It's like a big cosmic pull.

I can imagine! It seems so weird to think that "Silicon Valley" didn't exist only a few decades ago.
