No, I still can't let myself believe Revenge of the Sith is going to be good enough to redeem the suckage that were episodes 1 & 2. Believe me, I want nothing more than to pleasantly surprised--hell, deliriously, orgasmically surprised. But
hackthis said it so well I can't improve on it: "I am an old skool Star Wars fan, and I want to be so excited about Revenge of the Sith, but man, George Lucas has fucked me without lube one too many times." I wore a "Dear God, what if it sucks?" button to The Phantom Menace, knowing just how much emotional investment I had in that film, and, guess what, it did suck, and I can't let myself be built up that high again. No. Just, no.
That having been said, I am going this weekend--though not as early as tonight. So, keep the spoilers behind cut-tags for a few days at least, wouldja?
Oh, and, check out the awesome old skool icon
fyrie made for me:

Date: 2005-05-19 01:40 am (UTC)None of the acting was very good, though. Heh, or even a little good. I've even seen Hayden Christensen do better. Bleh.

Date: 2005-05-19 10:37 am (UTC)However, Episode III did a great job of bringing both parts together, in my opinion.
THIS is how it was supposed to end!!!

Date: 2005-05-19 03:18 am (UTC)It will suck. I don't care what anyone who has seen it has said. They LIE.
They have to be, man. I mean...it just *can't* be good. It just *can't*.

Date: 2005-05-19 09:51 am (UTC)I suppose it can be good, but I don't see that it can redeem the ashy taste in my mouth over the last two.

I'll post after I talk to him....probably late this afternoon.

Date: 2005-05-19 09:35 am (UTC)Natalie Portman delivers one of the most brilliant lines ever. Ewan does some great acting at the end too.
But the thing that swayed me into starry eyed-ness was the fact the bad guys won, but you should already know that considering the title. On par with Empire Strikes Back in terms of the spirit, beauty and action.
Be reassured.

Date: 2005-05-19 10:40 am (UTC)Try reading them in Finnish! Oh, the horror! I am still wondering, if they really used "pirullinen" in the original version, and if they did, what it was in English... devilish, diabolic, diabolical, fiendish, bloody-minded?

Date: 2005-05-19 10:41 am (UTC)That was really great, yes. :D

Date: 2005-05-19 05:52 pm (UTC)Actually, no, that would be better then TPM.
I quite like Natalie Portman, but apparently she's going to be playing Evie in the film of V for Vendetta, which I just can't see.

Date: 2005-05-20 06:38 pm (UTC)There was a comic, who's name escapes me, in the paper the day that EpIII opened, showing the geeks in line for the midnight show, and said that they had to survive the worst part of the wait.... two hours of bad movie quoting.
......I thought that was the best part. That and pants quotes, of course.
