Story #3 for the [livejournal.com profile] pornish_pixies Fantasy Fest has just been posted. It's my first femmeslash in the HP-verse (which I know means a lot of you will go find something else to read. That's okay!). Dubious consent in this one (I can't write anything more consensual that that in femmeslash. Go figure). Headers and link below.

Title: Measureless to Man
Pairing: Lily/Narcissa
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Lily doesn't want advice, but she wants to be forewarned.
Kinks/Warnings: Femmeslash, Dubious consent, Pregnancy (female), Lactation.
A/N: For the Pornish Pixies Fantasy Fest request made by [livejournal.com profile] lythian-- "Think expectant mothers club, Narcissa just given birth showing other girls a good ti(m)e. 3 players max 2 is good, no incest! pregnancy/nursing tips distributed during onslaught would make me laugh but i leave it in your capable hands" Thanks to betas [livejournal.com profile] fabularasa, and [livejournal.com profile] alexandralynch.

The title comes from Coleridge's Kubla Khan. (found here if you wish)

And drunk the milk of Paradise

AG! How do you *do* it? I should be squicked and it should be impossible to set up believably, but you make it plausible and *hot* and so interesting!

I even had canon musings as I wondered if Narcissa's milk gave Lily that extra bit of power/protection she needed at the end.

Loved all the motherhood/female aspects as well--Lily wondering if she'd feel more for her child than the squalling thing of Narcissa's. The power they have as mothers/females. The strangeness and power of family--the worry about the pureblood inlaws and parallel disconnection with her simultaneously pregnant muggle sister. This was a femslash that felt very female, but not soft or wimpy, but also not we are such tough men-with-boobs type of strength either.

You rock so hard.

I have also been reading your other offerings for the challenges and they have been lovely. Have not replied because of late nights and because I have nothing much to say besides "gah" *fans self* It's nice to have a writer that I can trust to hit it right with nearly every story. I don't think there's any other reason I would have read a Lily/Narcissa "Dubious consent, Pregnancy (female), Lactation." (is squicked by description if not by fic)

I have also a completely new reading on Coleridge's no doubt perfectly innocent pleasure domes and deep romantic chasms. It is your fault. >:O

*grins madly* It was actually la beta magnifica [livejournal.com profile] fabularasa that pointed out that the poem put her in mind of Kubla Khan, and I went back and reread it and when I got to "Weave a circle round him thrice," my brain went, "OMG you can even get Harry into this metaphor!" Am big nerd.

I don't think there's any other reason I would have read a Lily/Narcissa "Dubious consent, Pregnancy (female), Lactation." (is squicked by description if not by fic)

Yeah, this one is a hard sell, hee. But that's okay--this was fun to do, and, hey, y'can't wedge yourself into a place where all y'do is write H/D hurt/comfort fic so that y'can be sure of feedback. The challenge is fun, besides.

You are WONDERFUL!1!one!!! And I'm about halfway through the writing of these stories and likely to start on yours soon, BTW. ^_^

Great story. You say that it's #3 in your entry but it's only #2 in your subject.

Would write more, but falling asleep at the computer.

I agree with the squicked by description if not by fic comment.

Oh! Thank you! *goes to fix*

And thank you so much for popping by to say you liked it despite the exhaustion!

Oh. That was SO good and weird! And that's HUGE praise from someone who runs from femmeslash like the devil from the cross (that'll be me). I loved the bonding pregnant evil thing _ if there wasn't for the pregnancy I don't think this story would be half as interesting. It was kinda wicca, actually. And so Draco is older than Harry! Suits him perfectly, I have to say.
Yay for your Narcissa. If you write more of this pairing, I will read it.

Ha, I'm thrilled I got you to read something that you ordinarily would not have! Thank you so much for the feedback; it means so much!

I complimented Ponderosa on her awesome art, but somehow forgot to compliment you on this gorgeous story!
