I'm fifteen minutes into it, and the DVD of Love Never Dies is the most tuneless and creepy thing I've seen in maybe ever.

Yes, you all warned me.

Srsly? I love Phantom of the Opera with a fire of a thousand burning suns. A THOUSAND. There is this beautiful EPIC novel by Susan Kay who ships Erik/Christine SO HARD and is like the Phantom Fandom's BIBLE and you'd think that Andrew Lloyd Webber would have the SENSE to draw his material from that book.

But no, he gives us the dreck from Frederick Forsythe and gives us Love Never Dies.

And DRECK.

And OOC.

And CRAPPY CRAPPY MUSIC.

And the sad thing is, a decent fan fic writer from FF FRIGGIN DOT NET could have done better.

Sorry. Rant over. I'll go sit in my corner and cry now.

I read that Susan Kay book myself! Yes, it was a lovely take, and not disrespectful to the source material, I thought!

But this? Tuneless and CREEPY.

I did end up watching the whole thing and just felt it was insulting to the versions of the characters the original musical had put forth.

All I've seen of LND is 'The Beauty Underneath', which I only watched on YT because I wanted to see the raging chan implications for myself. I was not disappointed.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeee! Man, none of it was tuneful--I wanted that song to work but it just really didn't, even though it was trying to come close. Sigh.
