For twenty-four hours, I could not read nine-tenths of my friendslist as the thing was full of Sherlock 2x03 squee, so I got it watched and now I am happy because everyone's talking about it and I can read ALL THE POSTS.

What I like best is everyone's budding compulsion to write fic that fits at the end of this episode, because the interval screams for the sort of emotion-filled fic we love and need, and not because anyone needs to correct what happened or create denial!fic. We know how it happened, we know what will eventually come to these characters and we're enjoying the wallow. And we love imagining the revelation that will come. SO WRITE ME ALL THE FIC, GUYS. Sate me!

Oh god, yes. For the ep itself I'd have been fine with or without the last few seconds, but for the fandom I'm grateful for them. I'd much rather have a million 'what happens next' fics than wailing, gnashing of teeth and endless fix it stories. Yay!

Yes, this way we can write all the hurt/comfort fics with an attitude of "bwah ha ha, I eat this stuff up," rather than, "OH WHY DID THEY DO THAT, WHYYYYYY." I much prefer the bwah ha ha!

The ending is like Made in FanHeaven. It's only just coming home to me what a fic generator this ending is.

But oh the angst. I entered this fandom barely 3 weeks ago and it was a jolly romp of jolly good fun and now it's this epic wallow (nice word! you are so totally right!) of epic love and death.

When I saw two or three links to fics written within the first twenty-four hours after the episode, I realized how compelling the need was! And I love it, I really do. I know what it's like to be in that space.

TBH, I would very much like to write Sherlock's return and John punching him hard in the head, then hugging him.

THERE SHOULD BE SO MUCH PUNCHING. And then the two of them should have pie, so that I can say, "I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE PUNCHING AND PIE. "

Haha, you are describing all my feelings! :D I had to click so carefully before I watched the episode, like avoiding all news sites and tumblr and livejournal, and now after seeing it I'm eagerly awaiting what emerges from fandom.

I had this ugly moment where I thought someone had spoiled me above the lj cut, but then when I watched the first two minutes of the show I realized it wasn't as real a spoiler as I'd feared. :D

Ah, yes! I went to bed last night, actually turned off the light, and then got up again to write roughly a thousand words practically in one go. It's unlikely to be good, at least not with thorough editing, but apparently my brain needed it to be written :D

Oh, GOOD! I'll be on the lookout for it; those "compelled to write" fics are so pure-hearted, yanno? :D
