I just found out that that 1973 song by Seals and Crofts is not called "Queen Vanessa, Pass This Way Again."

Clearly I've never listened to any of the other lyrics in the song!

hahahahahahahahaha! Ok, I'm not laughing at you, except, you know, I totally am! :-P

P.S. There's a bathroom on the right.

Go right ahead! (And I didn't mishear that one, but, oh, some of the others I've messed up over the year are amazing.)

It's called "We May Never Pass This Way (Again)", but the way they do the "Weeeeeeeeee m'never..." deceived me all these years. I heard it in a store the other day and realised there was no "s" sound in the word I thought was "Vanessa" and listened more closely to the repetition.

Do you remember "Oh, Vienna"? In the 80s? Twenty years I thought they were singing Oh, Theodore. Seriously. I was sure they were singing to some guy called Theodore. Coulda buggered me sideways with a large root vegetable when I heard an articulate cover version.

I don't think I know that one--how is it I don't know an 80s song??

Listening to that, I STILL hear Theodore.

SNORTLOL.

It's weird how the lyrics that I could never understand when I was a kid now are completely clear when I hear the song after a 20-year gap of not hearing it.

I was trying to think of some when I posted that. Mostly, it wasn't Mondegreens, it was just a blur of sounds that are clearly words when I listen to the song now. Does that mean in twenty more years I'll be able to understand the lyrics to "Smells Like Teen Spirit"?
