Just in case anyone's reading this, my experience so far reading Half-Blood Prince is ever so much nicer than the "quick, whip through it so that you can get back to the fandom" event that OotP was.
hbp_chapters is full of clever and squeebly and critical discussion that so far appears to be spoiler-free--I haven't found any myself and no one's emailed me as mod to tell me of any--and I find myself lingering over each chapter of the book, forming my thoughts and reading those of others, and even managing to have brief exchanges with those who're concurrently lingering at the same chapter break that I am. These are thoughts that I wouldn't have made time to articulate were I rushing through, for the most part, and it's such an improvement over the last experience. I'm only on Chapter 5 and it's a delight not to have to rush it. Though I suspect I'll pick up the pace some as the weekend wears on! Damn, shoulda taken Monday off.
