First thing I did this morning was mop up rabbit blood from the bottom of the fridge.

O.o

I hope the rabbit was all ready dead...?

If not then I have an image of a rabbit injured and bleeding accidently getting shut in the fridge!

Dead. In pieces. Thawing. In a leaky bag.

But cleaning rabbit blood out of one's fridge makes for the funniest of nonsequiturs, don't it. ^_^

I assume you're going to be eating said rabbit soon...? :) I've never had rabbit, although my husband has. It's hard to get in this area and I've never seen it at a supermarket.

This will be the first time I've ever tried cooking one. Am torn between hasenpfeffer and skillet-frying.

It's really good! My brother hunts and some other relatives do, too, so I've eaten my share. :)

No, just me. But it was time to thaw the thing and cook it. ^_^ We'll see how it comes out.

Ours wasn't leaking blood, so I just topped off his water and fed him a nice cilantro salad.

Beloved pets aside, I've always wondered how rabbit tastes. Report back with a recipe review, won't you?

I've had hasenpfeffer and it's delicious, but I'm not sure I trust my ability to duplicate hasenpfeffer. *goes back to google more recipes*

It's strong, there's a distinct gamey flavor. It's not bad, but I prefer milder-tasting meat. It's odd, because it looks a lot like chicken, and then you bite into it and it's...not. It's not at all bad, just different.

Reminds me of a story my grandmother told me. Apparently, her father would catch rabbits on the way to or from work, and he'd bring it home, and she'd pet it and love it and hug him, and squeeze him and call him George, and then she'd leave to...I dunno, go to school or visit a friend or something. That night, the rabbit would be gone and they had "chicken." Then one day, she was visiting her grandmother, and her grandmother asked her mom about dinner, and her mom said, "Oh, it was nice. Victor caught a rabbit last night," and my grandmother overheard and said, "I ate a bunny?! You told me that was chicken!" And for years afterward, she refused to eat chicken. XD

Also reminds me of that one Bugs Bunny cartoon with the king going, "WHERE'S MY HASENPFEFFER?"

I clicked on the comments link totally expecting an explanation to appear as if the comments link was actually a cut tag. "Surely there is an explanation," I thought.

Had the answer not been in the comments I might have asked if you'd relocated to the Hell Mouth or if you had Gozer in your 'fridge.
