So very behind in:

1. Replying to comments. (You guys are wonderfully articulate and I crave the dialogue, so, dammit, I still want to get to 'em.)

2. Setting up GreatestJournal, InsaneJournal, and JournalFen to be something beyond placeholders.

3. Making new icons. So many DH jokes to be played with!

4. Writing post-DH fic. Isn't that the most heinous of all? Plotbunnies should always be fed. Hey, how about this for a standard disclaimer in the future? "All characters in this story are fictional and thus have no age."

I still have DH meta to spring on you, though. Bits and pieces seems to be as good a method as any, so, here's one: Remember the film of Philospher's/Sorcerer's Stone? Do you think that Columbus and Kloves were told by Rowling, "Listen, you have to make sure Harry really does catch the Snitch in his mouth; it's important later"--or did they just get lucky in choosing to include that in the film?

I think she told them. I head that the symbol that Grindy used was in a glass cabinet in Dumbledore's office in the GoF movie. I haven't checked for that yet.

Would be interesting to know! On both of those counts!

I tend to be very Harrycentric, but one cannot deny the possibilities...
And frankly, I wouldn't squick about a story of their youthful indescretions.

...does that mean you might write Grindelwald/Dumbledore? Because if so I think I would die from squee.

I seriously want to. I'm not sure I'll do as good a job with that pairing as some folk would, and I definitely want to read some, but I'd also like to try my hand at writing them at least once. :D

That should be fandom's new motto.

It's a good statement about fiction in general: every aspect of a character exists in your mind, from age to hair color. Do they get in trouble for illegal activities when they're not real people?

I have to do that too. Or at least change them from the hideous default layout.

I don't know about this; if she were keeping an eye out on the movies, wouldn't she have insisted that Lily be in the "Snape's Worst Memory" scene on OotP? Her being left out is going to be a bit of a poser to work around when they film DH, won't it?

If we had scene it in the pensieve, you'd be right. Assuming I'm remembering correctly, we mainly just saw glimpses because it was occlumency, so they're still able to say that she was there and just not in those bits Harry got to see.

If I'm remembering it completely wrong, please pretend I never said this. You see, I've only seen the movie once, so I fail as a fan. D:

In the book, Harry sees it when he sneaks into the Pensieve; this wasn't shown in the movie - they changed it so that Harry sees James pantsing Snape through Legilimency. Regardless, Lily isn't seen at all in any of Snape's memories in the movie.

So, yeah. Oops! :)

I suppose there's a way around it, but the Snape/Lily will be even more out of the blue in the 7th movie than it was in the 7th book.

I...think we're misunderstanding each other. This may be partly due to the fact that I confused Occlumency and Legilimency in my first post.

What I'm saying is that, in the Pensieve, Harry could see everything. With the Legilimency (again, assuming I'm remembering correctly), we just saw flashes, glimpses. So she could have been there, and we were just unable to see it because they didn't show much.

But you're right, it will come out of friggin' nowhere in the seventh movie.

And if I'm still not making sense, it's because it's 2 AM and I'm tired.

That's...actually a very good question, in regards to the snitch.

Also, the disclaimer is perfect, and I vote that everyone uses it in the future.

That's the best disclaimer I can possibly imagine. A lot the chatter I've heard from non-HP-fen about determining age in art has been so silly. I think a disclaimer like that would clear it up nicely.

(I've just friended you, something I should have done a long time ago. You've been my very favorite writer in the fandom for a couple of years now, but I'm a bit shy about saying things like that. :))

By the way, I'm sort of anticipating some Grindelwald/Dumbledore fic out of you. >>; Maybe a Grindelwald/Dumbledorebrothers angsty threesome!

Mmmm.

Or I can just go in a corner and imagine it myself. x)

I transferred my LJ posts to my other three journals today, and LJ Sec is my new best friend! It was ridiculously simple. Of course, the comments didn't transfer (*sigh*), and I have to go to each journal separately and fix links for long fics so they link from part one to part two in their new locations, but luckily I don't have many of those! :-P

I love the new disclaimer!

Y'know, back during all the Australian chan stuff, I suggested a standard into to every fic along the lines of "Just as ___ was doing ___, a crazy spell set in motion years ago caused everyone in the WW to fall asleep/freeze in place for __ years, thus making them all over age __.". It could be said much better, I'm sure, but it really would work, I think :)

Well if you're making icons....

I just realized that I would love a St. George (since he's holey now) icon. Just sayin'. ;)

I can't believe it took me this long to notice that reference. And I am naively trying to ignore the new strikethroughs in the vain hope that they just go away. Blahh.
