Thing is, I can understand the principle behind Livejournal's concerns--not just protecting children in real life, of course; I mean one step beyond that, the concerns about what's reflected in the list of LJ Interests and how that might be interpreted. If a user says their Interests include, "abuse of children, underage sex partners, and rape,"--okay, I can see how Livejournal might say, "This is kind of problematic for us; do you think you could eliminate this or amend it to clarify that you mean purely in a fictional or artistic sense?" Which is why, in my discussions when all this was just rumor a few days ago, I speculated that "Blackcest" or "Wincest" or "rapefic" should have been, if not completely safe from attack, at least comfortably clear that they're couched in fiction. Jargon does help. Even "non-con" could have a hundred different interpretations (non-conformist, non-conflict, the Committee to Eliminate Boring But Required Conferences, etc.), and proves the usefulness of jargonese in these matters.

My anger stems from Livejournal's lack of any such warning or request. Which is the song I will be singing over and over to whatever parties need to hear it sung until Livejournal unsuspends pornish_pixies, thankyouverymuch. As I said, restrictedsection.org did not disappear, but that was because its involved parties were willing to stand up for it. What I can do, I want to. Starting with icon-making, I guess.

Kind of wild that "Interests" has become as loaded a term as "Friends" has been for Livejournal and Livejournal participants.

Did anyone else, by the way, dream about this all night? In my dreams I kept refreshing lj to see if the strike-through had disappeared. Sometimes it had.

And, just so this journal doesn't turn into doom-and-gloom entirely for the next few days, a bit of good news! The U.S. film release of OotP has been moved up to Wednesday, July 11--which might even mean there will be Tuesday midnight shows. This is especially good news for me as I'm gonna be on a plane out of the U.S. on Thursday the 12 (heading to a non-English-speaking country for a few days) and didn't think I'd get to see it until I get into England for Sectus early the following week. So, a very large yay on that!

You know, in all of this one of the things I'm regretting the most (on a personal level) is that I never posted anything to the pixies. It wasn't lack of interest, actually; it was the word count. I can barely get people naked in 5,000 words, much less get them off. But now I'm regretting it, because I just sort of shrugged and treated it like it would always be there if I wanted it, you know? And now that's a little bit of fandom history I'll never be part of.

Like you, I do not hold Livejournal blameless in this -- even with one's hands being tied, there are ways of doing things and ways of doing things, and the way they chose was utterly ham-handed.

I am actually sitting writing the smuttiest smut I can think of right now, just to post it on my journal and feel all pointlessly defiant.

I dreamt about this and Fanlib all night, yeah. LJ was in chaos when I shut if off last night, but it looks like it's becoming mobilized now, so that's somewhat comforting. It's just. Whenever I see that particular strikethrough it sort of breaks my heart.

No dreams that I remember but I woke up still very upset and fearing that things might have got worse and I'd find my and half my flist's LJs suspended. This is like a living nightmare. I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that we might have lost PP. Taking the second icon, thanks!

I do not want to settle on this issue even a little bit--I still want p_p reinstated completely--but the lack of any warning at all, where we might have at least committed the journal to archive...arrrrrrrrgh.

I don't think Pornish is coming back. They won't give me back my RPG journals which had GIANT disclaimers on them specifically because I HAD had experiences with paedos finding them and I wanted those people to know that we didn't want to talk to them.

Certainly broken sleep - waking up tense and jaw-clenchy and taking a little while to remember why. Logging in this morning and running to check my info to see who else has a line - hpslash seems to have deleted itself, I hope temporarily.

And it's like, oh, yes, that safe haven of fandom might *not* be so safe. Having this cheery little journal entirely separate from my work and RL in which I'm quite free to be as pervy as I like, or as daftly fangirly. Although, apparently not.

I am woebegone about PP, for all the usual reasons and also it's one of those invite-only comms, like DD, I've daydreamed about one day getting to join (regardless of the realism of that :) ). Y'know? It's like the big-sister of slash, and maybe if I behave (or misbehave ;) ) I'll get to go to the movies with her and her cool friends. But, see (to painfully drag the metaphor further along), now mum & dad have kicked her outta the house for something she didn't even do.
