I do hope Dan one day develops a career separate from the fame of the Harry Potter films.

I think at this rate he's doing very well at developing it. No, really, no wink-wink-nudge-nudge at all; I think he's done a good thing in taking this stage role. Hope he proves to be a good actor onstage!

Couldn't agree more, and I most certainly share your hope. The HP films have given him a lot of exposure (no pun intended, really) and I believe he's putting his role in the franchise to good use.
