Those attending Prophecy 2007 in Toronto--you registering for the Welcoming and Leaving Feasts? (It's $50 more if you do.) I'm in an "I will if you do" state about it--not doing it for the food but for the company. My default will be to register for them, unless a lot of people say they're not going to bother.

*shrugs* Beth, Meri, Leni Jess and I talked it over and decided not to register for those meals. But that's only four of us. FYI.

We love being with everybody, but...we the food was so yucky!

(yes, that is the technical term *g*)

And it isn't a case of "everybody" so much as "If anybody who's 'everybody' decides not to go, and goes elsewhere, we're still all with 'everybody,' aren't we?" ^_^

Heh. Of course. I'm opting for dinner out.

I registered for the feasts. I figured most people would, actually. :-P

I never can predict! So I'm asking. ^_^

If I attend, it will be minus feasts. I'd rather spend 50 on fondue with slashers or something. ;-)

Ooh, fondue! :D *craves cheese*

I went ahead and registered for them on the principle that if they were silly or crowded, I could bugger off and find something else to do. The Leaving Feast at The Witching Hour was so lovely, with everyone getting in last hugs even though the one at Lumos just...wasn't. :D

From: [identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com
Yeah, I'm thinking if I register and, as you say, decide to skip them or bugger off, it's no biggie. But if everyone else is saying they're going and I didn't, I'd feel I made the wrong decision.

Ack! I know! I feel like that about the key note luncheons, which I never end up signing up for because they never announce who the speaker will be until long afterward!

[livejournal.com profile] furiosity mentioned something about this previous....I'm planning to go to the con, but am skipping the Feasts. I'm prone to lobby-crashing anyway.

I registered for the feasts, but as you said, I'd rather be signed up if lots of people are going. If most people decide not to attend, well then I guess I'm out the money but I'll still be with friends.

Right; that's a lot of how I'm thinking!

I think, if I attend, I'll pay for it, and then decide whether or not to stay. I just won't know if I'm going, or not, until after xmas, when money's more stable.

I'd so love to meet the people I've met online. :D

Heh! Not scary, eh? I've READ the thins you guys write! o_O

I would LOVE to go. I keep hearing so many fun things (orgies) about these events, and I always feel so left out. And I'm only 5 hours away from Toronto, so this would perfect!

OOohhhh!! Gotta save up now!

TRUST me. The darker the writing, the more likely we're unpretentious quirky ladies who look more at home with a teacup and a scone than naughty pr0n. ^_^

i'm undecided.

On the one hand, it could be a nice opportunity to socialise, but on the
other hand, the food might suck and I can think of a LOT of really good
Toronto restaurants that I would rather eat at.
Also, I haven't really discussed it yet with the people I'm going with.

Optimism is good, and given that they're going to end up feeding a smaller number of people, sure, maybe it'll work out just that way! *is still uncertain, bah*

I didn't sign up for the feasts. [livejournal.com profile] furiosity asked if folks might be interested in an "alternate feast" at a nearby restaurant, to which I said "Yes!" Because I love the company, but don't trust in the quality (or quantity, given what I heard about Lumos) of banquet food. :-\

Yay Prophecy! :D

Not going to the feasts, 50$ is too much for student budget and it's really meeting everyone that interests me. :) So a meal with the slashers, like [livejournal.com profile] coell suggested, would be awesome!

Date: 2006-09-07 02:20 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] coell.livejournal.com
Indeed, slashers should certainly go perv at a nearby restaurant.

I'm registering for both, and will probably try and sell the tickets if our crowd decide to bugger off elsewhere. I don't even know if I'm going to be at Prophecy yet, but hope to get there on my way home from England. The timing's pretty perfect for that.

Well, it is a totally different hotel, with a completely different menu selection, and different people running it, a different theme, etc. I'm not saying don't, but please don't just Prophecy's food by what you thought of Lumos's.

No worries! That's why the Prophecy group decided to offer the option to *not* get the meals - because a. we know people are on tight budgets, b. because the atmosphere and/or style is not to everyone's liking, and c. because we know that sometimes people's travel prohibit them from attending one or both feasts, so this time, the team thought to cut those folks a break. More options = good thing.

I just wanted to be clear that basing the experience on the quality/quantity/mix of food *at Lumos* is kind of like saying you won't go to a steakhouse in Chicago because the seafood in Baltimore was icky. :^D (And um, that should have been "judge," not "just," up there. Duh.)

Sorry your experience was icky, btw! My food was okay - in fact, every meal I ate there was fine - but I can easily see how a plated service for that many people gets logistically difficult, and unfortunately, it sounds like you were at an unlucky table. Meeble.

I don't know what is planned yet - buffet or sit-down - but stay posted. You can always opt-in later, if it becomes more appealing.

i hope you dont mind that ive added you, but i would love to meet more hp fans. [especially ones attending prophecy] and i also enjoy your fics. ♥

i just wanted to add in that most of the people ive heard from arent going to pay $50 for feasts when there is a chance that the food wont be very good and also, $50 for two meals? expensive, much.

i also need to register before the rates go up but i must come across a credit card before i can do so.

f is planning 'alternate feasts' for people not otping for the feasts. There are quite a few poeple so far. All the fun at a fraction of the price. I got the basic reg. without feasts.

Plus, if you don't get them now you can add them later.

If you do buy them now you can't get your money back.
