Oh, my. Check out this dramatic Poser artwork by kamion, featuring an imagined Book 7 tableau of Harry, Lucius, Draco, Snape, and Voldemort. His/her other pieces are every bit as nifty!

:) that would be a very loose interpretation of ..... power the Dark Lord knows not..... Voldy as the Overlord of Prudence and Prigginess and Rowling as the queen of suggested slash
but then if she doesn't kill off Harry, the editor will.
Pleasantly surprised to see comments here about my picture.
In a way I think the picture did not come out as intended, because nobody seemed to have recognised my version of "Snakey", as lysa1, calls Lucius' wand on the ground.
It was her speech at Patronus that convinced me that Lucius not only loves his only son, but would be desperate enough to kill Voldemort himself if the last one murdered Draco. I also greatly admired the despair Jeff Rawle performed, as the for the rest rather buffoony Amos Diggory, when the body of Cedric returns. I took that as an example for my wailing Lucius.
Still not sure how much this all clashes with or confirm with canon. The prophesy points in the direction that it will be Harry who will kill Voldy.
I still cannot see Harry capable enough to vanquish Voldemort after performing pretty miserable against Snape in Flight of the Prince and Severus let him know it. A far more experienced wizard must play an important role in the end.
Oh and why does it reads: .....and either must die at the hand of the other.... and not .....by the hand of the other....?
I'm particularly fond of the interpretation that Lucius may be a bad man and not necessarily a good father, but that he does love his son. I can see other interpretations being valid but that's the one I prefer.
And I also think it would be terrific if someone other than Harry took Voldemort out directly. Prophecies are sort of cheap in how they motivate a person (which the text does show to a degree, in what Dumbledore says about Harry's prophecy).
Am really loving your artwork! That wedding picture just killed me; so unabashed!
I think that the Godfather sort of illustrates how a very bad man can be a very caring father. But Lucius is also very uppish gentry where there is not much of a tradition of hugs and cuddles. Neither is Cruciatus as a mean for potty-training en vogue among the Malfoys.
But when little Draco had broken yet another precious and irreplaceable Slytherin heirloom or relic, Lucius would say in a very very quiet voice: " Draco, you will stay in your room till I am ready to see you again." and Draco would feel it as the world had stopped existing. There are father who can make it freezing in August by just one remark and that's the kind of father I imagine Lucius is.
