Because god forbid these books include something that teenagers could actually relate to...

Last night my husband and I watched "Love, Actually," and would you believe, the characters used "shag" a LOT. Like, as much as in fanfic.

I totally had to read that three times before my brain didn't interpret that as "Hermione is circumcised? ...when did Hermione grow a cock?"

Soon the complaints will begin of a fandom bias in the news media.

Hooking up? I've totally forgotten when/who said that, but it is a bit Americanised.

Woah, because if not, it would've been the first book about celibate teenaged wizards in history!

...well, aside for Narnia, that is. >:)

It's quite the read. Dunno if this is what was meant, but it's about slash fics and potter "porn".

OMG, I had no remote idea that was even there! Jeez, the editors are one perverted sons of bitches. My kind of people! lol, hilarious. Thanks for sharing. Now I want to pick up a copy of Esquire and just read it. lol

Oh, I need to ask, can I friend you? No need to friend me back. You just seem like a very interesting person, so I wanna keep up. And dide, you're a Hufflepuff! lol, yay! It's always nice to find fellow Hufflepuffs.

Come on along, do! ^_^ And yeah, I got sorted Hufflepuff by at least one large group! Can't argue with it either. :D

*joins you* I'm thinking about applying for membership at sorting_elite. Not sure yet about it, but thinking about it. It seems interesting. :D

Do you have any comments about the community, in general?

The sorting is fun, and the competitions seem to have a niche for most everyone!

Sorting does look interesting, with all the questions and such. lol...now, I bet the competitions are a blast. Although I'm not much of a competition gal, a competition once in a while is nice to take part in. :)

Thanks for the your thoughts on it. It's always good to see what others think.

*snort* hermione, you cock-hungry minx? that should be bella's opening line in book 7.

speaking of (and in response to 2001's article), there was a notable lack of femmeslash mentioned in their harry potter-porn-sting. guess it's easier to villify gay porn if it doesn't include something that's already socially acceptable, barring fanatics who think porn is evil on the whole.

psychoanalyzing why women read and write slash has always been a matter of deepest annoyance with me. it's sex. it's hot. opportunities for creativity (especially in the HP fandom) expand tenfold, because there are that many more important-to-canon male characters. those characters' respective conflicts add wonderful depth to their romantic interactions, and vice versa.
anybody who's read nimori, or cassandra claire, or fabula rasa (or amanuensis1...sorry, i feel a little goofy giving you props in your own thread...heh), could tell you that.

slash is like calcium. it does the female body good.

(Hee, you like my favorite authors, too. :D ) Women want romance with their gay, and that's all there is to it, sometimes. Exactly.

Women want romance with their gay

or at least some juicy kink. y'know.

yeah, you led me to nimori with your rec page, so many thanks are due to you. Rat's Alley was the first story i heard about by fabula rasa. i went on an epic search for that one before i finally found her site.

i could write a memoir: a fangirl's quest for fanfic mecca. ;)
