The theme was "Adverbs." An enthusiastic drabble night, with a lot of great participants, and I got to write five of the challenges despite being pulled away a few times--I think there were seven challenges total!

Severus/Lucius, often (challenge by [livejournal.com profile] goseaward)
A/N: If you don't know Gilbert and Sullivan and know it WELL, this will go right over your heads. Sorry.

"I'm not fucking joining you, you murdered my fucking parents!" Potter was struggling to get free. "You got any idea what it's like to grow up an orphan?"

"Often, often," said Voldemort, showing his teeth as he smiled.

"That's what I asked, you moron!"

Voldemort blinked, puzzling over the seeming non-sequitur rather than taking offense at the epithet. "Yes, and I said 'Often.'"

"What, you need me to define it, fuckwit? It means--."

"I know what it means! I am one! I murdered mine! That's why I said, 'Often'!"

"Wait. When you say, 'Orphan...'"

Severus felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned, found Lucius Malfoy at his side.

"Severus, my dear, I think they'll be at this all night. Would you like to find some other, more intense diversion?"

"I thought you'd never ask."

Arm in arm, they strode away, whistling all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore.

Dumbledore/McGonagall, euphemistically (challenge by [livejournal.com profile] fabularasa)

He knows what tenderness there can be in humor, joking that what they used to do all night...now takes them all night.

And for all that Minerva's hair is cloud-pale and hasn't seen a shade anywhere near auburn for half a century, it still cascades down, long as a girl's, when she releases it from its clip.

And he tells her that it is a relief not to have to worry about contraceptive spells. How could an old fool like him remember them, anyway?

But there are times when even his jokes and his flattery aren't enough, and only the sincerity of his kiss, and his embrace, and his passion, reassure his dear girl how much he would rather be with her, and no other.

And after, he teases her, "At night, all cats are grey." The joke's worth the minor hex she inevitably throws.

Draco/Ron, indolently (challenge by [livejournal.com profile] isiscolo)

It's good to be on the winning side. Especially when one's rich.

Victorious, indolent living has spoiled some of Draco's aquaintances, and he's watched them growing soft--literally soft in their flesh. Draco won't let that happen to him, and follows quite the physical regimen daily.

It's after that he lets himself indulge.

Draco chooses his red-haired servant today, just for variety. Besides, the Weasel's got marvelous hands, and Draco's sore shoulder really needs to be worked on.

His shoulder gets the attention it needs. So do the rest of his muscles.

And at the end, Draco indulges himself with the Weasel's talented mouth as well.

In that delicious post-orgasmic haze, he really can't blame his acquaintances for growing soft.

Snape/Black, wickedly (challenge by [livejournal.com profile] dragon_light)
A/N: Both [livejournal.com profile] sparrohawk and I channeled on this one; it was SUCH fun!

"How come you're always wearing black?"

"Why on earth should you care?"

A snort. "I care about knowing the answer. Won't pretend I'm asking to get at your innermost feelings, Severus."

"Because it makes laundry day simple."

"Oh, right. Is that what's in that cauldron, then?"

"Hardly. You didn't expect me to interrupt my work just because you wanted a quick mid-day shag, did you?"

Sirius lifted his head from the pillow and peered at the subject of their discussion. "Is it supposed to be on fire like that?"

"Oh, bollocks!" Snape was out of bed and at the flaming cauldron's side instantly. "Bugger! Pail of water--your side of the bed--NOW!"

Sirius's aim was true, if overly thorough. Snape was as water-drenched as the cauldron, and Sirius could not stop laughing at the result.

Dripping, Snape sneered, "One would think you expected me to melt."

"Half-expected you would."

Harry/Voldemort, seductively (challenge by [livejournal.com profile] isiscolo)

Hands shaking, eyes hard and horrible...and forehead unmarked, Harry Potter placed the late Albus Dumbledore's wand into Voldemort's hand.

"It's yours. And I'm no longer marked by you. No more prophecies. You win.

"Now. Keep your side of the goddamn bargain."

Voldemort smiled. "Very well, my boy."

And he changed.

Skin shifted. Hair grew long where there'd been none.

The smile--all of it perfect, right down to the same rakish smile.

Except Sirius's grey eyes could not hide the red flash beneath.

"No." Harry had no fight left in him to step back. "You said. You swore. No. Not like this."

Even the voice was exact, and the bark-like laugh. "Yes. But it's what you're getting, Harry."

No fight left.

Harry went to him. Sirius's arms caught and enfolded him as he fell.

Such a long, long way down.

1. Okay, you owe me for a new monitor -- I've got green tea all over mine. (I love in the movie of Penzance when Rex Smith as Frederick squeaks out, "Major Stanley is... is... no orphan!" and Kevin Kline waits... and waits... and then says, "... When you say "orphan"...." I lose it every time.

2. Awww. That's really sweet. And I love that, after all these years, she's still got a long fall of hair.

3. Indolent indeed. I'm reminded of the Prince in The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, who thought of himself as a weapon.

4. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-haaaa! I'll get you, my Potter -- and your little dog, too!

5. Ooh. Ow. That'll leave a mark. So to speak.

Excellent stuff tonight, Amy!

1. Whee! Oh, I'm so happy there are people who are getting the first one. Why am I completely unsurprised that you're one o' them. ^_^

2. Oh, can't you just see it, bound up under that stiff matronly hat? And she brushes it before going to bed because mother always told her to, and now she can't break the habit.

3. Heh, you would evoke one of my favorite bits of erotica. Must re-read trilogy soon.

4.Yes! Man, I wish someone would draw something involving Voldemort staring into a prophecy spere at Harry and Sirius a la the WWW and her crystal ball, and cackling that!

5. Too many puns in this one for me to know where to begin. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments, dearheart!

The Draco/ Ron was just beautifully done hidden decadence. Just nifty.

The Sirius/Severus was what it should be- plenty of snark with humor (sniffs) Wonderful! I love the line at the end- Wicked Wizard of the West, indeed!

The Voldie/Harry? Creepy. Utterly creepy!

Oh! You liked the Draco/Ron? Thank you, 'cuz that's a pairing whose drabble-capabilities I've almost exhausted and didn't know WHAT to do with them this time around. ^_^ So glad you liked it, and liked the others! Yay for snarky Snape/Black with plenty of humor garnish!

Wonderful work with this set, but I just had to leave a note about the last one, which positively took my breath away. You weave such compelling images and scenes with just a few words.. that last line, absolutely perfect. The dynamic between Harry and Voldemort, the flow of power and control, and the gorgeous mindfuck of it all.. what a delight.

1. Cracked me up. I've watched way too much Gilbert and Sullivan late at night on PBS.

2. So sweet :-) And I admit, I have a particular fondness for the woman who only lets her hair down in the bedroom.

3. Very sharp. Draco's 'The Weasel' says it all.

4. Gave me a giggle fit - I love this pairing when it's snarky.

5. And so I went happily from #4, only to be hit with this. Ouch. This is one of those ones that packs a surprising wallop for so few words, and I read it three times just to torture myself. Well done.

1. *slaps you five* Yay for G & S fans! Yeah, if I had to bet who'd get that one, you'd have been on the short list, you clever thing, you.

2. And I keep visualizing her nightgown, and it isn't sleazy and it looks good on her.

3. (Part of me so wants to rewrite this as H/D so that it pushes my own buttons!)

4. This pairing has to be snarky! It's the LAW!

5. Y'know, we gotta do something about the order these challenges are given. Or no, it must be me. I always seem to end angsty! Anyway, 'm thrilled you liked it!

#1. I knew -- I KNEW someone was going to go there with this challenge. I'm glad it was you, my dear!
#2 *wibble* There is just something delicately, antiquely sweet about this challenge, and the subtle flavors it produced are delighting me to no end. "all cats are grey..." My favorite obscure Cure song, by the way. Brava.
#3 You know, (and I'm sure you DO know) it's what you DON'T say in this drabble that carries the most power. Haunting in that 'chill under the belly' sort of way you do so very well. I can almost see Ron trying not to glower as Draco absently pets his hair like a dog. Because that's really all he means anymore. LOVE it.
#4 I believe I aspirated my tea over the Wizard of Oz trope the first time I read that. Still just as giggle-riffic.
#5 O.O ! -.- !! O.O !!! T.T

3. I can almost see Ron trying not to glower as Draco absently pets his hair like a dog.--Yes! The thing I had in my head while I wrote was how Ron's holding himself in check, knowing how much he and his friends are gonna suffer if he doesn't. And I wonder who else Draco has in his harem, mmm.

4. I'm still cracking up over [livejournal.com profile] sparrohawk and I channelling on that one!

Severus/Lucius -- LOL! Severus and Lucius's dialogue is actually funnier than Harry and Voldemort's. Context, I suppose. [grin]

Dumbledore/McGonagall -- Sweet. The "all cats are grey" line made me giggle, and yes, of course she'd hex him for it!

Draco/Ron -- Very... indolent. :)

Snape/Black -- LMFAO! Those last two lines! Beautiful! [snorfle]

Harry/Voldemort -- Oh, owww. :( That one was a fast stiletto-jab to the gut, then a twist and a slow pull out.... [shudder]

*coos in delight* Five! Five bundles of glee!

The first one, I have no clue about the reference but even before reading through the comments, I was still giggling at the dialogue. Like, just, even without the reference, the comic timing of it all! I love that Voldemort is all kind of pleasantly confused and how Harry's all, like. I can just picture him pausing from his struggling to stand up straight and be all "When you say 'Orphan'..." Lucius and Severus are too precious to BELIEVE! Aahahahahahha!!!

Albus/Minerva, it's like. *wipes tear* The only time I find Albus absolutely adorable! He's so sweet! Their love! I know it sounds horrible youngist, but old people in love, it's just so sweet!! The love and affection and teasing and her hair in the clip and he calls her 'his girl'. Oh. Bless.

Ohhhhh, DRACO!!! Reading this for some reason fills me with love for him, cause he's just so EVIL. But not, like, Lucius!Evil, just his own petty way of being evil. It's so Draco. He keeps himself in shape! And his version of going soft is letting a Weasley...take care of him. That's just so perfect, I love it.

Snape/Black should always be comedic. Cause it's just so good. It's like, the odd couple if they were gay. Snape's always getting distracted by Sirius' carefree wild ways, and Sirius loves his uptight, ugly, man-in-black. I love their love/hate relationship! It's good when Sirius distracts Severus. Very good. Very very good. *slow grin*

The last one pretty much has just torn my heart out and tossed it on the train tracks. Harry/Sirius, like, this is, like. What it should be. If it's not sweet and domestic, it's desperation, personified. I think the worst part is that I could see Harry doing this. And wanting it. And not regretting it. Oh, darling Harry. He loved Sirius! *tries not to get all weepy*

I'll just cuddle you up nice and good. La la.

I can just picture him pausing from his struggling to stand up straight and be all "When you say 'Orphan'..." --Oh! You don't know--that's so very like Kevin Kline playing the Pirate Kind in the film version of The Pirates of Penzance and delivering that very line. Perfect!

I'm so glad you like the Albus/Minerva! Yes. The display of love that isn't that of young bouncy teenagers.

I love how you think Draco's evil is petty. He's gonna be, like, third-generation Death Eater in my head, and with such a sense of entitlement. Yeah.

Snape/Black as the Gay Odd Couple--now all I want to scream is, "The Odd Couple wasn't GAY?" Hee!

And, shoot, I just love Harry/Sirius. Desperate, angsty, domestic...I've been contemplating Bastard!Sirius who will screw anything, and what it would be like to have him fall hard for Harry, to his surprise.

Thank you so much for the reviews and the CUDDLES! *hugs hugs hugs*

Harry/Voldemort was perfection - so sad, so *bitter*, and that surrender at the end... powerful beyond words, especially with that exit line. That one pushed all my buttons at once and ripped my heart out at the same time. Definitely the most incredible of the whole collection. That one will stick with me for a while, I feel... *shudders*.

Dumbledore/McGonagall was lovely, charming, and the teasing was just delightful.

I loved both Ron/Draco (so essentially sensual) and Severus/Lucius (*grin* - I got it! Saw it on stage once, actually :) as well.

But it's the last one that still hurts...
