Squee! [livejournal.com profile] notuilion just showed up one day and said, "Here, since you were whimpering that you didn't have time, here are all your KR drabbles, all coded and ready for upload to your website." !!!!!!!!

So, dear [livejournal.com profile] notuilion, I offered you a drabble as thanks; you said, "I like Lucius," so I went to this week's Dictionary Drabble on Beloved Enemies. I went for a sort of abstract version of the word's definition. Hope you like!

The word:
florilegium: a collection of excerpts; an anthology of short pieces.

Title: Short Stories. 500 words. Harry/Lucius.

Ten objects on a table.

Lucius does not quite hold his breath as the boy stares at them. It looks so very like the memory game of old. And oh, it is a memory game, but nothing like the one most are familiar with.

He does not dare to look at Voldemort as Potter touches the first item.

A white owl feather.

--"Consider it a birthday present, child," says Lucius Malfoy, smiling as Harry takes the owl's cage from him, too overcome to speak--

A remembrall.

--"Father thinks you'd make a fine Seeker," says Draco Malfoy, tossing it in the air. "Go on, give it a try!" Harry's best friend gives the glass sphere a healthy throw, and Harry is already off after it--

A thick emerald green jumper.

--"these wet things off you before you freeze..." and strong hands are pulling the rain-soaked jumper over Harry's head, and wrap a throw about his shoulders, still warm from the hearth--

A water-warped black book with a ragged hole through the middle.

--"can try again some other day, Harry." Lucius puts the ruined book upon the small table next to his armchair, and draws Harry onto his lap--

Splinters from a broomstick.

--"never mind what it cost me," Harry says fiercely, refusing to be moved from Lucius's hospital bedside. "I got you out of there and you're going to be all right and that's what matters"--

A square of worn parchment with nothing written upon it.

--Harry bends low, and whispers, "The Dark Lord will rise again," and the blank parchment becomes a map--

An empty butterbeer bottle.

--"enough of that for one night," Lucius says, but he's smiling, and Harry says, "Haven't either," and he's never felt so bold as he leans in close to the older man--

A tiny gold hourglass on a chain.

--"can't have you losing either sleep or study time to come here at night, now can I?" says Lucius, and Harry sits up, letting the sheet fall to his waist as he reaches for it--

A golden egg.

--"how to open it, then take what's inside and put it on. And wait for me." Lucius leans closer. "Naked, of course. And don't you dare touch yourself." Harry shivers--

A long, thin black quill with an unusually sharp point.

--on his thigh, right there, not more than an inch from his cock, and Harry doesn't know whether it will be the point or the feather edge this time, and it doesn't matter, as long as Lucius doesn't stop, doesn't stop, doesn't stop--

Harry looks up from the table, and moves around it to stand before Lucius.

Touches his shoulder lightly and kisses him. "I've missed you. When did I get here? I can't quite remember."

Voldemort chuckles. "Nicely done, my friend. Very well, you may keep him."

Potter's head tucked comfortably under his chin, Lucius smiles.

You see, you see *pointing* this is the kind of stuff that makes me wish I could write. I read something like this and I get all excited and think "I'm gonna write me some fanfic!" But then about 20 mins later I'm cursing and kicking stuff and finally give it up. heheheh This is such a brilliant idea, wish I could do it. The kind of writing that makes me jealous. :)

Gulp! That weirds me out because I do that with a ZILLION other writers! Y'know what? Write anyway! 'Cause if I gave it up every time I did that I'd never write. You have to have the ideas just plead to get on paper and trust yourself. Do it do it do it! (And thank you for the lovely compliment. I mean that.)

Oohhhh that is so incredibly creepy. I love it, I love figuring out each object myself and then seeing how Lucius has changed the memory to suit his whim. It's almost scary who well-crafted this small smidgens of lines fit into a world where the rest of the puzlle pieces just come together in your mind. Like, I don't even need to read any more to fill in the rest of the story Lucius has crafted.

And the progression, that terrible progression from Harry's innocent youth to his fourth and fifth year, where it become apparent that Harry's become sexualized with Lucius.

However, each little 'memory' is sensual in it's own way. The warmth of the wrap, the glass roundness of the Remebrall, it's like well. Lucius is clever, and therefore makes Harry's new memories tangible and real and sensory. It's beautifully done.

It's strange, but the one that creeps me out the most is the Maraurder's Map. It made me feel so sad to read that renewed memory, I had to read the line a few times over just to absorb it. Wahhh.

Such a well-contained, thorough-yet-provocative ficlet. You are, as always, brilliant. [livejournal.com profile] glockgal/[livejournal.com profile] amanuensis1 4EVA!!!

Ooh, yum, *smooches you for seeing that* *smooches you anyway just 'cuz she loves you and needs no excuse* That was so much fun to do. To take all the items in chronologic order and say, "Now, the later ones have to lead to smutty scenes! So pick items that have sexy potential at the end!"

Ourloveissofangirly. Je t'adore.

not a pairing I normally can see, or seek out, but this *works*.

Would love to see more, as well, have these new memories written out (and maybe see a 'what happened later'...)

Hee. The challenge of this pairing is part of why I love it so.

Aargh! What a twist! Damn, I like this. I don't really like Harry/Lucius, but every now and again someone comes along and does something brilliant with it, and no matter how much I want to hate it, I end up loving it. That's the case here. It's like ten separate little stories, one for each object, and each of them gives new meaning to their relationship. And in the end… it's all fake. Gah. And Harry's innocent statement at the ending -- his mind all warped and… gah… He believes all those things happened. In a few moments not only did his past change but also part of his personality. I wonder if his personality has to be compatible with what happened, and whether he could actually believe it otherwise, or whether this memory spell could actually completely redefine him… Hmm… Whichever is the case, brilliantly done

Ah, my campaign for Making People Believe Harry/Lucius CAN be done continues!

My poor sweet innocent Harry. Even if I write Dark!Harry I think there will be a part of me who believes the sweet kid is there at the core.

Thank you so much.

That's so clever. A memory game for the reader as well as Harry, comparing the scenes from the book and what Lucius is putting into Harry's mind... very chilling, very cool.

Mmm, a beautiful twisting of what we know of the past. I love how these brief fragments create a whole picture of what was/could be, and the ambiguity of exactly what's happened, until the end. Lovely.

I don't actually know how I got to this post only yesterday - maybe my friends page was acting up? Cos I'm SO late to read this, it's bizarre.

Anyway - just picture me in rabid fangirling mode, 'kay? There's not much more that I can say than - this just knocked Isis' Mirror of Erised drabble off its top spot as my favourite drabble ever...you now BOTH share the top place. I can't choose. This is just amazing.

Harry bends low, and whispers, "The Dark Lord will rise again,"

This sends a shiver all the way through me.

The oh-so-slow hinting of the slash, the perfect placing of the memories, the originality of the idea. Well. If you weren't so lovely, I'd be tempted to cry at the hopelessness of my ever writing anything that got to this stage of perfection. ;)

Oh, lordy, you in rabid fangirling mode is enough to warm the heart of...of...well, even Snape in an ice storm, that's how much. I can't believe you liked this that much--but oh, thank you for telling me so!!!

Oh, wow. A brilliant, brilliant concept which you executed flawlessly. I love the structure, the careful build up of-- a myth, almost. You've managed to cature an entire lifetime in a few phrases, and that's what art's all about, really. Gorgeous. <3.

oh. my. gods. you. are. god. eee! this is absolutly gorgeous. i do so wish it was a full story. 500 words is beautiful but sometimes not enough. re-writing the whole 5 books like that would be an amazing feat but so gorgeous. this is beautiful harry/lucius, i really am speechless.

Thank you so much! It was a short idea, built upon a punchline, though I admit the scenes themselves do kinda play out in my head in a longer fashion--especially the smutty ones. ^_^ You are so nice! *hugs*
