More pumpkin carving!
Oct. 29th, 2012 09:29 pmIt's October 29 and time for another pumpkin! One more Avengers-themed one.

IIIII AMMMM IRON MAN. DUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUH.

You have no idea how tricky the facial hair was. SWEET MUTATING GAMMA RAYS. I almost had a nervous breakdown.

This is the original--I got it off tumblr months ago and if I can find the original artist I will be thrilled to give credit, arrrrgh, I suck at keeping track.
To give the image the proper background/outline I had to give it a border. I knew how difficult it was going to be to create the facial hair--cutting away everything except those tiny bits is much harder than just cutting the tiny bits out. And I experimented with making an inverse of the template image but it was all wrong--not only did the Iron Man armor look weird with the arc reactor and repulsor lights being the dark points, but Tony's facial hair looked white. (It looked kinda hot in a silver fox way, not gonna lie, but it didn't look like Tony.) So struggling with the negative space it was going to have to be.

And here's the pumpkin in full light.
