The slow buildup of the first half does make the second half, though I understand that that alone might not make it great filmmaking. But I had a good time!
He's had the same effect as Robert Downey Jr. did for me--RDJ may have had huge success when he was young, but I paid no attention to him until he was older and had the right role and amazing facial lines to suck me in and make me think him gorgeous. ^_^
