“Go visit Millamir. Compliment her pastry, make eyes at the kitchen boy. Or, I don’t know, go watch Van’s chess game. That’d be better. Challenge whoever wins. Or offer to suck off the winner and take your time about it.”

Avir screwed up his face. “I’m not sucking off the stablehands. Who knows when they last bathed.”

“There you go, indulging in your fantasies again. Dirty, dirty stablehands.” He toweled his hair ends. “Smelling of horse and hay and their own musky sweat. Move fast and maybe you’ll catch a few; one wide-eyed, shy look from you and they’ll have you bent over a hay bale sobbing before you can do more than say, ‘Oh, but you mustn’t.’” Avir was already looking glazed-eyed.
