[livejournal.com profile] waccawheels's newest contribution to Harry/Sirius love made me think of a wedding picture, and [livejournal.com profile] aras_fixation said she'd kill for such a story, and the plotbunny attacked, except--oh, hell, just read it. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] florahart for looking it over.)

Dressing, Harry/Sirius, ~250 words.

Blue. Yes, he and Sirius would both wear blue, rather than the more traditional colour. Harry was being allowed to make all the decisions; blue felt right.

Formal robes, of course, but that didn't mean they had to be excruciatingly adherent to wizarding guidelines. Sirius would have the pocketwatch in his waistcoat, the non-magical one Harry had given him two Christmases ago, the one he'd exclaimed over ("Look at all the tiny wheels! Inventive blokes, those Muggles, even if it only tells the time") and vowed he'd carry always. In exchange Harry would have a fragment of Sirius's mirror on him, the largest piece that had been left after it had shattered, polished and set in a tiny frame.

And he wanted Sirius to have something of his, something not given as a gift, but lent, like a promise that it would be kept safe for him, always. He wanted it to be his wand, but that would have been foolish, so instead he had chosen the miniature Hungarian Horntail he'd pulled from the sack in the Triwizarding Tournament. Sirius had been so proud of him, defeating the dragon on his own in the first task.

And the ring, of course. Harry was already wearing his.

He lifted Sirius's left hand, slid the circle of gold onto Sirius's fourth finger. Bent, and kissed Sirius on the lips.

He straightened. Moved to the door on legs that seemed not his own and opened it. The attendants were waiting, hands folded.

"You can take him now," he said.

I'm pretty sure you're a genius. ^_^

Your drabbles and ficlets might be my favorite things, out of all your work. Not that the longer stories aren't excellent, because they are; but because your shorter ones pack such a punch. There's a whole world of detail in just a few sentences. <3<3

My thought process:
Harry wouldn't marry Sirius.
Huh, maybe he would.
Oh, that's so sweet.
Beautiful.

Ah, your writing. It twists me up inside. Beautiful job there.

Ow!!! To be honest, I love fluff in general, but I hate weddings and marriages and proposals and all that stuff. So I was in kind of limbo, whether to be drawn into the general sweetness or be annoyed by the wedding preparations, and then banG! It hurt!!! But was so nice (I am a very sick person)...

Oh, mean. My eyes caught "You can take him now" before I read anything else so I was expecting something completely not DEATH and WOE.

It's the first day of a new semester, and my brain was so fuzzy, it took me three times to read this before I GOT IT.

Then I was content. Many thanks.

Oh, oww. [is sad] That ending was a bear trap waiting to take the legs off any read who came by. :(

One funny, though. [duck] When I got here: "to the door on legs" my immediate image was that it was literally a door on legs, as in, a door that can walk around, and hey that'd be a pretty cool and maybe convenient although sometimes frustrating bit of magic! Because this is Harry Potter and there's magic all over the place and so why not a door on literal legs? Then I read on and had to stop and read the sentence again once I realized the legs were Harry's and not the doors. [rueful smile]

Gotta be careful with your phrasing, though, when you're writing fantasy. :)
