Ah, how lovely that looks without the strike-through!

These are the people I want to commend especially for their behavior during this short but all-consuming crisis:

[livejournal.com profile] femmequixotic, of course, for her incredible, hold-it-together, take-action, keep-everyone-informed while still-only-human-and-fragile-and-tender and milk-of-human-kindness-forgiving, sheer outstanding modliness.

[livejournal.com profile] ataniell93, whose level-headedness spoke out not only for journals that housed our fiction, but for journals representing fictional RPG characters.

Mr. Berkowitz, for not hiding behind useless apology but acknowledging the blunder and rectifying the situation. (You guys may continue to be angry at Six Apart for the way the whole thing began in the first place, and you'd be right to be, but he has acted well under the circumstances.)

Everybody who spoke up, on their own journals, on [livejournal.com profile] news, in phone calls to Six Apart, to express their displeasure.

[livejournal.com profile] smut_wednesday, [livejournal.com profile] daily_snitch, [livejournal.com profile] hp_art_daily, [livejournal.com profile] hogwarts_today, and the other communities and journals who soldiered on with their usual schedules to bring us the content that fandom is all about.

We are Fandom. We are a force to be reckoned with. ^_^

so, I was away for work, then away on vacation for awhile. I didn't even know there were shut-downs... what happened? if someone could point me in the direction of a link or post that explains it, that would be awesome. and thanks for defending the fandom... all of you.

Welcome back! My suggestion is that you look at the most recent posts on [livejournal.com profile] news and also on [livejournal.com profile] femmequixotic's lj, which will illustrate a lot of what happened. And there are links within there, too.

thank you so much! I have read a lot more about the purge of 07--it was actually hard to miss once I started catching up on my lj reading. I'm still curious about the exact criteria used to flag journals and communities for suspension. E.g., was it "I love underage porn" "man boy love makes me hot" or simply "harry/sirius" ?

thanks again for the links.

It seemed, so the story goes, to have been linked to what was listed in ones Interests, and what was flagged included, "incest," "underage," and "chan." There may have been more things, but those were what I heard.

thanks again! I can see how LJ would be troubled. on teh other hand, it's clearly okay to explore those themes if you're a screenwriter or a novelist. I'm getting more and more interested in getting the fandom de-marginalized. if more people participated instead of passively receiving messages/images/etc (in our democracy, for eg...) the world would be qa much better place, and the masses would be much happier, I think. anyway *off the soapbox* thanks again.
