A few endorsements:

I was directed to Least I Could Do, an online comic strip, (here, start with yesterday's rather than today's; it's funnier and a perfect example of the humor level) just yesterday, and already I've gone through three years of the archive. It's hilarious. Somehow the writer has created a sexist pig of a protagonist who gets all the women he pleases and maintains a kind of naïve charm despite his loathsome qualities (sexist, looksist, sizeist, selfish)--but, hey, it's a comic strip. The artist changes twice during the run of the strip and each change was a bit of an adjustment for me, but I grew used to the new styles. Watch as Rayne is denied his request for a female Swedish exchange student to do his housework and then sulks, "I admit I'm a little disappointed with IKEA's customer service."

The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation, Vol. 1: The Pox Party, with its lengthy title, is billed as Young Adult fiction, but I suspect there was debate about that classification. Yes, the protagonist begins as a child, but so was Pip in Great Expectations--nothing YA about that book, last I checked. Octavian claims to be the son of royalty, surrounded by professorial types who bear numbers instead of names, incorporated into their experiments like any fish or bird. What gets me about this book is how Octavian's circumstances are laid plain for the reader, and yet how easily the reader fails to recognize how simple it is. No, I can't say more; just read it. Don't read the reviews on Amazon.com either; they spoil too much.

Also, isn't this pretty?

I'm tempted, but it would just take up space. Still, pretty.

*lol* I read just couple of them, but I bookmarked it, and definitely reading when I get time! Thanks for the link!

Oooh! When I saw those nice-packed books...you can see how they got bigger and bigger, and with more material to read...mmmmmmmmmm.
But it looks it is made of leather? In that case, naah, wouldn't take it.

And did you see this (http://www.picturesofwalls.com/)?
There are some very funny writings. Just thought to share, maybe you like it.Image (http://photobucket.com)

And, yes, I love looking at the spines of the books and observing how they got thicker 'n' thicker!

Yesss, that's the word I've been looking for - thick! (not native english-speaker) Like, watching them all there and Image...

I remember after reading OoTP I expected even thicker book, but HBP has less pages...

Octavian Nothing was just...wow, I would never have classified that as a YA book just because the protagonist is in his teens. A beautifully written gallery of horrors.

Ooh, I'm glad you've read and liked it! Yup, there it was in the children's section of the library, and billed that way on Amazon and in the stores. Shudder-worthy, isn't it? Not just the book's contents but the idea that it got classified that way. And I hate all the reviews of it! They give away so much, and it's far more interesting to see how blind one can be as a reader, even when everything's laid out for you.

I've been begging and hoping and praying for a gigantic, ancient-looking, beatifully bound version since I realized the series would eventually end :D Maybe if we wave enough money around they'll make one.

Aww, how cute! I'd almost be tempted to get one (if I had the money), and stash it away to corrupt young innocent children with.

I keep hearing stuff about the Octavian Nothing books, I guess I will actually see if the library has them. x)

The library's where I read mine! I read lots of YA. Big percentage of SF/Fantasy in YA.

Heh, I need to read more. XD I read fantasy mostly, and I like the "YA" approach to fantasy far, far more than any "adult" fantasy I've read.

Have any other suggestions? :x

Yes! Really, he made them himself for a while. Then Ultimate Showdown came along, and he had to get a small distributor or something because everyone suddenly wanted all of his music. At least, I think that's what happened. I could be slightly (or very, very) wrong.

Anyway, they're right here (http://www.cdfreedom.com/artists/lemondemon/). I tell you, I am this close to buying "Hip To The Javabean" just for the song Bad Idea (http://wiki.illemonati.com/Bad_Idea). It's a bonus track rather than a normal one, so you can't buy the MP3.

And yes to the Potter Puppet Pals as well. I have the first two memorized. I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

Aaah, there's one HP fandom site I visit regularly (because of the boards) and he has a fan club there (not really, but everybody loves PPP)!
I was LMAO on that live show, Yule Ball (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5340142020961846351&q=potterpuppetpals%2Byule%2Bball&hl=en) performance! I remember some quotes...

Snape: "They bothered me, I bothered back - It was self-defense!"

Dumbledore: "Did you just kill all of my students?"
Voldie: "No,they were like that when I came."

Voldie: "When I say Avada Kedavra, scream like you're dying!"

Harry: "You end all of yours lessons in nudity!"
Dumbledore: "Have you learned nothing?!"

that is so nice. i like a lot of the american covers better than the uk ones which is what we get in canada.

when my mom went to the usa i made her buy ootp for me since i love the blue cover. and i pre-ordered hbp since green and purple is so much better than blue and orange.

i need to pre-order dh, but in the american cover which kind of sucks since all the canadian bookstores have such a great deal on now if you pre-order from them. :/

Hee! I looked at that pretty box for the longest, trying to figure out what it was. My first thought, was, pretty rolled-up scarves. And then I thought, panties! But then, you wouldn't say that about panties taking up sapce, because when is it ever the wrong time for pretty silky panties?

Also, my brain is so fried. I glanced at your mood icon and thought, hey! what a pretty Jake/Carson icon! 'Cause, you know, the glasses aren't immediatey visible, and then the pose. . . yeah. Um.

So I read this when first posted and ran out to check out a copy of Octavian. It's very good so far. I'm about a hundred pages in; Octavian and his mother are just getting the shit beaten out of them. I can't say that I didn't see Lord What's-his-face's betray coming but I've been completely snookered by other stuff. Still don't know why Octavian's a traitor but I have my guesses.

Also, the bookstore I went to had signed copies so I had to get one. :P

I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'll be curious to see if you figure out the traitor thing, but it's something kind of sneaky at the same time it's obvious.
