Hi, I'm a Song of Ice and Fire-aholic.

[livejournal.com profile] starrysummer and I were talking on her lj and I've come to the conclusion, as prompted by her, that we need a Support Group for all those of us who cannot read A Feast For Crows until we've finished our Smutmas fics.

We're so disciplined. Woe.
ext_14568: Lisa just seems like a perfectly nice, educated, middle class woman...who writes homoerotic fanfiction about wizards (BC-Bill&Opus_pants)

*raises hand, jumps around wildly, squees and then crashes back to the reality of Smutmas* Woe is right!

Actually, woe is: I really need to re-read the first three because, after what - three? four years? - I can't remember anything! (well, okay, some things, but not nearly enough!)

Actually, I have only myself to blame for coming up with a Smutmas bunny that includes 3 pairings and is currently topping 8K words and probably needs a good 2 - 3- 4K more (and more smut!) before I can begin my "official" pre-beta edit. (which, instead of cutting and slicing and preening will probably add another 1 or 2K words to the mess!) Why oh why couldn't I have said, "Fuck plot! Just write porn!" But, noooooooo. I have to be all intricate and plotty with it. X can't just get it on with A, B and C for shits and giggles and lots of copius fluid sharing. He must have a justifiable reason and that reason cannot be because he's an arrogant horny bastard!

Woe.

Kill me. (but not until after Wednesday or Gina will mutilate, draw and quarter me.)

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I re-read all three a little earlier this year in anticipation! I'd forgotten SO much.

And I am terrified to commiserate with you about how Smutmas took over from all my clever intentions, as if that will give it credence that it is actually conquering me. IT WILL NOT DO THAT, MOTHERF***ER.

[identity profile] starrysummer.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Though, really, what I need is a support group for the people who have sent in smutmas but don't have anyone to talk about AFFC with since everyone else is being disciplined.

Oh, the frustration of the virtuous.

*goes back to book, but promises not to spoil*

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! That's even worse, you're right!

[identity profile] kaiz.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Woe indeed. Hmph. We should also have a support group for all of us writers who somehow think that, despite the name SMUTMAS, the fest actually means PLOTMAS. Argh!!!! *bangs head against keyboard*

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
OMG the plot just takes OVER. It says, "But what's the justification?" as you're screaming "F*** the justification would you please just be SMUTTY?!"

[identity profile] leni-jess.livejournal.com 2005-11-13 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, this is a very bad disease which gets me every year, and this year is going to make it harder than ever.

[identity profile] luthien.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
I *knew* there was a good reason for not signing up for smutmas! (Well, apart from the whole missing the announcement until it was too late thing. *g*)

*goes off to reread from the beginning of A Game of Thrones*

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
It's been so long, I had to do my reread earlier this year!

[identity profile] tekalynn.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
I still treasure the post of a reader who had just started A Game of Thrones and was beginning to think this book might be just a wee bit of a downer. He said plaintively, "This little girl's wolf just got killed. Should I keep reading or does it get worse?"

He was unanimously assured that it gets MUCH worse, and he should put the book down immediately.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That universe's version of Fate kills little girls' wolves for BREAKFAST, man.

[identity profile] leni-jess.livejournal.com 2005-11-13 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
That's me - some time in January, probably, even though I have AFfC leering at me from the bookshelf. I discovered when the last one came out how necessary it was to reread from the start, and that was, what, four years ago? Dashed if I spoil this reading by skipping that refresh.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-13 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I completely forgot about one of the deaths in the books, how's that for needing a refresh?

[identity profile] scoradh.livejournal.com 2005-11-13 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Ol' Georgie ain't finicky about killing people off, so I shouldn't wonder at you forgetting some of them. :P

Yes, yes, and ten times YES! That book is taunting me. But, I must finish my smutmas!!

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I wrote smut today! Actual smut in the smutmas!

I know that [livejournal.com profile] grrm is on livejournal, but is there a community for mass squeeing over ASoIaF?

And commiserations on not being able to read :(

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno, I'll go look for it after I read the book! ^_^

What IS this book everyone is squeeing about? Boggled, I am.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-12 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, the Amazon.com page for the first book has pretty good summaries!

[identity profile] scoradh.livejournal.com 2005-11-13 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
My name is Rachel, and I'm addicted to a Song of Ice and Fire.

Muah, however, for I've long since read AFFC.

...

...

I will be good, oh, I will be good.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-14 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Be good, oh, please be good! I want to be surprised! ^_^

[identity profile] scoradh.livejournal.com 2005-11-14 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Of course I won't! But I hope you will post a reaction to it, when you are finished; I want some debate on this! No one I know's read it. :(

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
When I do get to it I'm sure I'll have a discussion post. I won't be able to resist!

Oooh, how yummy!! *squeals like fangirl*

[identity profile] which-chick.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It'll still be there when you get there. Besides, everything's a little more fun with the proper amount of an-ti-ci-pation. (It's hard to vamp Rocky-Horror style in LJ, but I'm doing the best I can.)

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Bah. Disclipine is so...so...arrrgh! ^_^
