2CELLOS appeared on Glee!

This has been thrown around on my flist, but in celebration/revelation of its performance on this week's Glee, I gotta display it again in case anyone missed it: the sublime cello performance (and, let's face it, the slashiest you'll ever see) by Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser (a/k/a 2CELLOS) performing "Smooth Criminal":

Glee had a Michael Jackson-themed episode, and I found myself wondering if they'd do Smooth Criminal, thinking, "But nothing can ever top the cello version." Guys, they GOT SULIC AND HAUSER THEMSELVES TO PERFORM THE CELLO VERSION IN THE SHOW. I died of joy.

Wow! This almost makes me want to watch Glee again! Is it youtubular?

Also, do you know Lim's Smooth Criminal Sherlock vid (http://blip.tv/lim/underground-4838186)?

Oh, MY! I am so glad you linked that! What a great treatment of the music.

Glee is iTunesable, and that's also why it's hard to find straight segments from Glee on YouTube--I think the powers-that-be get 'em taken down pretty quickly.

I have never heard this nor heard of this. So glad I clicked!

...is there a 2CELLOS fandom? Can I request it for Yuletide?

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
TELL ME ABOUT IT. There should be a fandom somewhere!

[identity profile] daigranon.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
As a professional cello major yes, I have seen this many times.

[identity profile] daigranon.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
...I gave up Glee a while ago, but this was on it?

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
They had a sequence where Santana and Sebastian got into each other's faces in a music room set up very much like the one in this video, and as the musicians start to leave after their practice, Santana asks the "cello guys" to stay and accompany them in a sing-off duel, and it's all done in the style of this very video!

[identity profile] daigranon.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, that sounds silly, but interesting. The fact that the guys came and performed themselves is pretty cool, though.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that. That it's them and done like that very video!

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! Bet you've been swamped with it. ^_^ Ooh, you're a cello major, that makes my heart pound faster! Love stringed instruments.

[identity profile] dracofiend.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
wowie! I'll need to get their music! This video was amazing, and made me think of these guys (http://vimeo.com/26361748), who I saw while walking through the Boston public garden a few months back.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
They're good too! Man, I love finding new versions of this.

[identity profile] golden-bastet.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
IT'S THOSE GUYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYS!!!!!!

: gestures wildly because did not know their names :

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
THEY ARE FOUUUUND!

I'm still enjoying Glee quite a lot. Lots of entertaining music and same-sex romance!

[identity profile] highway-west.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Glee has markedly improved this season with the music and how they use it to tell stories.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I've been enjoying it from the beginning; I like that they're not afraid to do the occasional fantasy sequence so that they don't always have to make it fit into realistic context!

[identity profile] rexluscus.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
All of this just makes me think of Cello Wars.

They're not quite as hot as Sulic and Hauser though.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
*has a small orgasm* Omigod, I'd NEVER seen this! I love it love it love it!

[identity profile] rexluscus.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it great? Darth Vader playing the accordion made my life complete.

[identity profile] golden-bastet.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Darth Vader playing the accordion

Okay. I HAVE to see that.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
You do! Go look!

[identity profile] cluegirl.livejournal.com 2012-02-06 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good! I'd wanted to link her to that, because seriously, everyone in the WORLD should see Cello Wars, amirite?

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG that pushed a ridiculous amount of my buttons <3

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
DOESN'T IT JUST. So many fantasies this thing inspire!

[identity profile] neotoma.livejournal.com 2012-02-04 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I had seen this video before -- someone had linked to it as "the Supernatural AU where Sam and Dean are cellists" :)

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
*dies dies dies dies DIES* That's beautiful. I'm going to remember that one!

That was the one element of last week's Glee episode that I really, really enjoyed. In retrospect, I should have realized the dual-cello thing was too creative to have been original to the show, haha. Good on them for showcasing such a talented duo, though!

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
I found that episode brought Michael Jackson's music back home to me in a way I'd forgotten since I first heard those songs. I'd been in the "yeah, overplayed, can't listen to it now" state and suddenly I had some of the same flashes, during this episode, of how I'd felt about them long ago! Particularly Human Nature.

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Wasn't that great? Best moment of the whole season, if not the whole show! I found them on youtube after and happily listened to tons of their stuff.

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, I want to make time to watch more and more! I've only seen a few things of theirs.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Totally cool! Thank you for sharing it!

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
So glad it's reaching some people who hadn't seen it!

[identity profile] pushdragon.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! The broken bowstrings are totally standing in for their subconscious urge to tear each other's clothes. This clip is positively obscene. I love it!

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
YES YES YOU COMPLETELY GETTIT. :D

[identity profile] mtranc3.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That was amazing, the music gave me goosebumps. I loved the back and forth between the cellos and the intensity with which they were playing. And you know what, it *was* slashy! Thank you so much for sharing this video!

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2012-02-05 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
The intensity was delicious. It didn't hurt that these guys are pretty, either! :D

[identity profile] cluegirl.livejournal.com 2012-02-06 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, so I cannot be the only one at the end who wanted to see them make up suddenly and kiss once that awful, poaching woman was out of the way...
