Mick Jagger as the Emperor of Cathay! Y'gotta love it.

Omigod, Netflix has Faerie Tale Theatre available on streaming! I love my life!

I got this on DVD a year or so ago, and realized how much I adored The Frog Prince, among others. I generally shy from remakes, but remakes of thiese could be wonderful!

I've watched and rewatched these. Took me a long time to get to a few of them, as I kept rainy-day saving them! The Frog Prince is freakin' hilarious, I love Teri Garr in that.

OMG REALLY? Oh man, those were the only things I would ever accept renting from Blockbuster as a kid. "We could get..." "NO I WANNA FAERIE TALE THEATRE."

Ah ha ha! Yes, that's where I started with my watching!

That was such a brilliant show! Shelly Duvall is a storytelling Gooddess.

My favorites:
Jack and the Beanstalk- the fairy god 'mother' was hilarious
The Princess and the Pea - three words: "The Queen spits?"
The Three Little Pigs - worth it just to see Jeff Goldblum stamping on a flower
The Tale of the Frog Prince - Terry Garr holds her own with Robin Williams. No easy task.
The Pied Piper of Hamlin - eerie to the nth degree. Eric Idle is perfect.

I had forgotten about the show. Thanks for the reminder. It's also on hulu!
*happy sigh*

I have such a hard time choosing my favorites! The ones I watch more than any others include The Nightingale, Puss In Boots, and The Three Little Pigs (Jeff Goldblum arguing with his unseen shrew of a wolf-wife SLAYS me).

Hulu too? Omigod, everyone can watch, yayyyyy!

You know, I don't think I've seen Puss In Boots.
Though I have seen the musical movie version starring Jason Connery (of "Robin of Sherwood"), and - wait for it... Christopher Walken as the singing and dancing Puss.

Nope. I just checked the cast (Including 3 late greats, Ben Vereen, Gregory Hines and Brock Peters -and also with Alfre Woodard? phenomenal!), and I definitely missed that one.

And I had forgotten about the off-screen wolf wife. She was hilarious.

The opening sequence on hulu is not the original, sadly.

Just since I posted about this, I've watched about 8 of the episodes. I also forgot to mention The Princess Who Had Never Laughed ranks high on my repeat watch list. It's my fantasy that one day I run into Howie Mandel and say to him, "Mr. Mandel, you're a very talented and funny man, and I want you to know that my favorite piece of work in your whole canon is your Faerie Tale Theatre episode."

And I used to have a huge Peter Weller crush so The Dancing Princesses got watched a lot too!
