Due date draws near...

The due date for the Harry Potter Slash Awards (why do those splash page links fail to take you anywhere if you click them? I have to open each in a new window to get 'em to work) sub-nominees draws near (Aug 20, Wednesday), and I definitely haven't met my goal of at least looking at all of the stories. Wasn't going to happen, not going to happen. Sigh. So, I made a point of going through the Humor and PWP categories because I figured that at least a quick glance would make me capable of judging, "Is this funnier/hotter than the stories I nominated the first time around?" Actually not as easy as all that. I found some terrifically funny stories that I'm so glad I read, though the PWP stuff makes me realize how different some people's definitions are. Some stories will certainly make my recs list, whenever I get around to a new update.

So. I'll have to just go with what I know for the other categories, as far as my selections for sub-nominations go, and I just hate that. Who knows what I might be overlooking? *grumbles*

You're making it sound like you're punishing them for
not finishing their fics in one go! It's like the whip and the carrot with you! Kinks my dear!

So you haven't reda DV yet?

Oh, I'm such a DOOFUS. Of course it's Draco Veritas I meant, not Draco Sinister. I forgot which one was the middle one again. (I use that phrase so much I need some A Fish Called Wanda fandom icons.)

And yes, if someone wants to see it as punishment, that's their right too, but they will simply have to see that I'm not their audience, if they want to post a WIP. Which should not bother a soul, given how vast the audience for WIP's is already!

Look at Sushi, giving us novel-length stories at a go. Or Resonant's Transfigurations-- that's certainly novella length. Fabula Rasa posts chapters a day at a time, but not until the story's DONE. I respect these authors, I do. Because they write and post the way I myself prefer to write and post.

(And I prefer it that way because it keeps up the pressure to get it done, if I can't post until it's complete!)

I rather like that nice feeling of building tension. Especially in fics like Maya's "Underwater Light", even if she posts the chapters at a complete random time, and usually without a notice beforehand.

WIPs tend to leave a person with a "more" flavour, and that is their best trait IMHO. Worst thing is, of course, the randomness. Although I know of some WIPs which are getting posted at a regular time. :)
