I think they meant that Barbossa had died, but he sailed he was out of the Land of The Dead, perhapes the "ocean" Styx? I heard a rumor that in the 3rd movie, Jack Sparrow is in purgatory and meets his father, which would pair nicely with the World of the Dead thing at World's End. Wooosh..
